Coming Soon from Galapagos4: Hellsent - False Profit - August 17, 2010
July 8, 2010 by Jefe
He.llsent hails from the southside of Chicago, and he bleeds it. On his 2nd solo album, 'False Profit', you find him as an artist ready to set the record straight and up the ante with deep meaningful compositions that go against the grain of contemporary music. It features production from mainly from Max, as well as contributions by Fifth Element, DJ Alo, and Loose Cannon. He.llsent takes listeners on a deep introspective journey filled with intense lyrics, well thought out punch-lines and an fiery urgency thats missing from some of todays hip hop. "False Profit is a statement", he says. "The rap game is all about money and illusions. The False Profit is a glimpse behind all the smoke and mirrors."
Each song feels like it can be its own album; each one is its own gigantic universe. The music asks listeners to throw away all they think they know about hip-hop and just listen. 'False Profit' harkens back to a time when hip-hop wasnt easily digested, to a time when you could tell a real hip hop head by the condition of his rewind button; to an era when lyrics had weight and the music was heavy. When lyrics were deep and cryptic and the artist made sure you couldnt get what they were saying on a couple listens. When hip-hop still belonged to the ones who helped shape it.
He.llsent flexes his muscle and reveals his fangs on this release. From the bold, hard hitting, in your face lyrics of 'Number 9'; to the aggressive street anthem 'Silver Dollar', He.llsent takes control of your attention and doesnt let go until hes ready. This is hip-hop in its purest form without all the fancy bells and whistles; just an ill beat and a nice MC putting in work with a couple scratches thrown in for good measure.
This isnt about your typical clichés, bitches or drug money. This isnt about any of the stuff you see masquerading as hip-hop. This is about expression. This is an MC doing what a MC does. Not for a profit or to appear to be bigger than life, but just because he can.

77Bros label launched / Perseus Noble digital release
June 13, 2010 by Jeff
Galapagos4 introduces new side label 77Bros
77Bros is a label created and run by Justus Roe aka djwhitelightning and longtime G4 art director Josh Grotto. The aim is to put out more rock oriented material, with the help and guidance of Galapagos4.
The first official joint release is the digital release of the debut album by Perseus Noble.
Perseus Noble is a band of fellows founded by the spirits. The inspiration for the electro psychwave phenomenon that compiles their works is demonstrated in the audio nuances collected from passing alien vessels. The founder, main guitar player, singer, and song writer for the group, Justin D. Bushman is a self proclaimed bio conduit for the chaotic reality waves that pulsate through our infinite chaos. Justin found that the best place to harness these waves is the middle of the desert. So that is where he went. It worked. A new sound was born in the sunset sheen.
With strange pals Justus Roe on the key boards and electro rhythms, and production, and Travis Yarak on dueling counter rhythm guitar functionality systems and back up vocals, the sounds become a beautiful gathering of audio kinetic phenomenon. With catchy licks and unforgettable fuzzy electronic tonal jizz all over the place, few will not enjoy at least a couple of the dynamic hits on the album.
Perseus Noble's debut self-titled album will be available digitally everywhere on June 15th 2010.

Break The Mold: A Chicago Mixtape
April 8, 2010 by Jefe
Break The Mold is a mixtape by DJ Bizkid, who was asked to compile Chicago tracks from Galapagos4 & extended family into one 80 minute mixtape. The result was Break The Mold, an in-depth look into the past 10 years of innovation in Chicago hip-hop from the G4 perspective.
Featured are classic tracks, joints you may never have heard or forgot about, exclusive never-before-heard cuts from Robust & Hellsent, mixes, mashups and other Chicago related material all sewn together and sliced apart again by the skilled technician from Germany.
This is a tribute to Chicago from G4, as well as a look into our contributions to the music side of Chicagos current cultural landscape.
