Ludwig Chavez - Muddy River OUT NOW!
November 30, 2024 by Jefe
LUDWIG CHAVEZ expands their musical stylings with 10 new soulful tracks in a full-length LP titled, MUDDY RIVER. Layered with voluminous synthscapes, dirty grooves & their signature sweet n' melty vocal explorations, this new release showcases a serious evolution in their craft. This album is unlike anything else out there today; singular in its style and elemental components, yet universally appealing. Once again LUDWIG CHAVEZ elevates themes of struggle, love, loss and hope for the future in a city that is home to the highest of highs and lowest of lows. Jamie Clemmons & Ross Wall masterfully combine vintage tones from analogue gear collected over decades. Their composition and production create an immediate resonance with folks keen on adventurous analogue recording arts. Teaming up with Trevor Boyer on drums brings new heat to this intensely soulful collection of songs. Beautiful, gritty and psychedelic, this record has something for everyone.

Robust x Max Julian - Jon Bovi out now!
April 4, 2022 by Jeff
Fresh off the heels of albums you haven't heard before, Max Julian & former Chicago rapper Robust team up to give you "Jon Bovi". When asked about the album's title, Robust says: "We saw a meme and laughed about it, that's the story, the end". Usually when artists release music, they will tell you how much passion, sweat and care they put into it, that isn't the case here. Studio sessions usually started by Max Julian showing up late and unprepared, sometimes even forgetting his MacBook charger, Robust rarely took things seriously himself, and spent most of the time criticizing the engineer (never referring to him by any other moniker than "engineer") for not making him sound good enough, even though it couldn't be more obvious he didn't want to be behind a mic.
The world almost missed out on "Bovi" due to one of many altercations between Max Julian & Robust. The most recent fall out had the 2 at odds over $10.

Asphate - Open Letters To A Closed Fist - 3/27/2021
March 21, 2021 by Jeff
Asphate returns with a new LP produced by Big Vern, "Open Letters to a Closed Fist".
Press-finessin' off the heels of his co-op release with fellow emcee, Fenimore, in the 2019 ghost-vinyl LP from The Main Dudes, the phantom voice of Maxilla Blue now returns in full effect and poison text with fresh thump in the veins.
2015 brought 'Phate's solo potion, "Closed Doors to an Open Mind", produced exclusively by Maker. In 2021, the bitter grip of the Midwestern winter delivers "Open Letters to a Closed Fist", produced exclusively by fellow statesman, Big Vern (Sonic Militia).
Asphate's fifth full length vinyl LP marks a return to water flow and liquid myths over chill-spill rhythm. The special occasion is commemorated in limited edition "frostbite white" vinyl. Vinyl purchase includes full color lyric book illustrated by LETER91 (Scarce Elementz) and designed/produced by JAEVCEE (Chi-Rock Chapter 1).
Available 03.27.21.
