MEATY OGRE - Flibbertigibbit / Long Dirty Word
March 26, 2003 by Jeff
Its been a while since I leaked any news, so I thought Id lay it out there. This time of war is trying on the mind & soul... so weve been working hard at the music and keeping things rolling...
Were set to release the lead single to the upcoming Meaty Ogre full length, a split 7-inch with production by Meaty and rhymes by Robust & Rift Napalm. This 45 will be limited to 1000 pressed & released May 13, 2003. The Meaty Ogre LP ""Leo vs. Pisces"" is currently in production and will be out later this year on Galapagos4. The album is sounding incredible and will feature Meatys heat along with Robust, Rift Napalm, Qwel, Offwhyte, Jayorta & more on the vocal cuts. Were planning to release the full CD along with 2 seperate slabs of wax, one with vocal tracks and one beats.
Almost ready to hit the streets is Chicagos favorite surrealist soul band Royce, featuring Dwight Lightning on bass, Ross Vegas on keyboards, C-Rock on drums & Jamie Clemmons on guitar & sweet vocals. Their debut LP ""Subtleties Of The Game"" also features 2 tracks with Qwelly Belly. Take note of the subtleties...
The G4 Endangered Species night at the Hothouse has been going very well, and we promise to kill it every 2nd-Tuesday-of-the-month. Chicago has been holding down, supporting hip hop like never before... lets keep at it! This month (April 8th) will feature Qwel, Offwhyte, Prime, Royce, Litterthugz & a special surprise performance from the Icy Hot Stuntaz. Heat! Peep the flier courtesy of JASH.
Robust & Rift Napalm are both currently working on their respective full lengths, due out later this year on Galapagos4. Also hard at work in the early stages of new material are Qwel, Offwhyte, White Lightning, Denizen Kane & Typical Cats... expect much more to come from Galapagos4 in the near future... 2003 & beyond

GALAPAGOS4 PRESENTS ENDANGERED SPECIES @ THE HOTHOUSE
G4 will now be hosting the 2nd Tuesday of every month @ The Hothouse (31 E. Balbo in Chicago). Our inaugural show is January 14th, featuring Denizen Kane, Qwel, Qwazaar & surrealist soul band ROYCE. Yes, that means all 3 Typical Cats MCs will be there... they will be rocking solo sets as well as a group performance (sans DJ Natural).
ERADICATING TOURISM TOUR
From January 23rd to February 9th, Galapagos4 will be marching through Europe on a 5 country/9 show "Eradicating Tourism" Tour (featuring Qwel w/ Meaty Ogre & White Lightning + Offwhyte w/ Dr. Jones). The album features 2 dope new tracks with QWEL as well as Jamie's smooth vocal stylings... hot shit for your barbeque this summer or your indoor potluck in the winter.
We'll be getting together the first in Meaty Ogre's 45 series f/ Robust & Rift Napalm. Meaty is also working on his full length album, due out this spring on Galapagos4. Knock!

Big release news
October 8, 2002 by Jeff
Damn! Back again. The time is nearing for two of the biggest releases ever for Galapagos4.
The date is set for Offwhytes new LP, "The Fifth Sun", dropping November 19th 2002. You wont believe your ears... Ill leave it at that. Beats are handled by Meaty Ogre, Open i, Alias of Anticon, Metrognome & Officer Wheezy himself. Guest verses are dropped by Qwel, Qwazaar & Psiv Abs.
"The Fifth Sun" will be released in the U.S. by Galapagos4 & jointly in Europe & Japan by Agenda, a sub-label of British electronica imprint Peacefrog Records. Agenda has already released the album's lead-off single, "Complex Destiny", on 12-inch vinyl. The Offwhyte "High Fidelity" 12-inch is also available worldwide from Galapagos4.
A Chicago release party for "The Fifth Sun" has been scheduled in Chi-town @ The Chase Cafe on Friday Nov. 22nd. Performers include Offwhyte, Robust, and Rift Napalm. Mark it.
Also check for the Offwhyte banger "Rappers & Chemicals" on Gravel Records' upcoming comp "The Chicago Project". This song will also be featured on a 12-inch release on Tri-Eight Records Japan.
Also coming up is the new LP from Qwel entitled "The Rubber Duckie Experiment". Those who have heard some of these new tracks live know what to expect: heavy shit from Qwelly Belly. This incredible body of work features production by Dwight Lightnin, Meaty Ogre, Jackson Jones, Maker of TBA & Qwel himself. Thats right, Qwelly on the beat, ya heard? Q-double will also be featured on "The Chicago Project", as well as Maker's "Honestly" LP.
Galapagos4 will also soon be releasing a 7" as a preview to 2 upcoming albums. This split 7" will feature Robust on 1 side, & Rift Napalm on the other, with Meaty on the beats for both. Robigga & Rift are currently recording at the Resort for their respective solo albums, due out spring 2003 on Galapagos4.
Qwel will be on tour with Josh Martinez & Sleep from Olddominion for most of November. Be cool when they come through your town. They appreciate that shit.
Typical Cats are performing at the 2nd anniversary for our man Rocks store out in sunny Sherman Oaks, CA. Lineup includes Grouch, J-Live, Eyedea & Abilites, Abstract Rude & Busdriver. Hot nickels!
Galapagos4 will be present at the Hip Hop Art Collective in Seattle on November 30th held at The Fremont Unconventional Center. Performers are Qwel & Meaty, Offwhyte & Dr. Jones, Mcenroe of Peanuts & Corn & Sweatshop Union. Its gonna be live! Let's see... that about covers it for now... oh yeah. 2003: New Typical Cats.
