What’s up, now?! It’s been a minute, but we’ve been hard at work on some new Chicago summer heat.

Finally, we have remastered and repressed the Typical Cats vinyl LP. Sound quality is improved, and full color cover art is still intact. Available here at the product page and everywhere else that knows hip hop.

DENIZEN KANE PRESENTS TREE CITY LEGENDS - Street Date July 9th, 2002

As a member of both the spoken word group I Was Born With Two Tongues and the underground hip-hop group Typical Cats, Dennis Kim (aka Denizen Kane) has proven his versatility as a poet, a lyricist & an MC. On "Tree City Legends", his first solo album, he shows his talents as a musician & songwriter, spanning everything from straight up hip-hop to experimental instrumentation & vocals. Beats are provided by DJ Natural (Typical Cats), KP the Illustrado (The Pacifics) & Anacron (The Netherworlds). Additional production was handled by Denizen Kane & DJ White Lightning. One of the jewels of the record is the inclusion of the first new Typical Cats group track to be released in over a year and a half. "Calling Card" is a raw, fierce track that showcases the 3 MCs, Qwel, Qwazaar & Denizen ripping the mic to shreds over banging DJ Natural production. Also featured are the singing talents of Tina on the heavyhearted "Drown (Bless The Dead)". "Tree City Legends" is an introspective expression of Denizen’s life experiences in Chicago, New York & Oakland. This 8 track EP is just a taste of his artistic vision. Look for more from Denizen Kane on upcoming Typical Cats projects as well as his appearance on Russell Simmons’ Def Poetry Jam on HBO.

OFFWHYTE "THE FIFTH SUN" - September 2002

The new Offwhyte LP will be released in the U.S. by Galapagos4 & jointly in Europe & Japan by Galapagos4 and British electronica imprint Peacefrog Records. We are pleased to open this long overdue update with the announcement of a new record. "The Offwhyte Hi-Fidelity Maxi-Single" drops this coming week.

This brand new 12-inch features 3 tracks from the upcoming full length by Offwhyte, "The Fifth Sun" due out this fall on Galapagos4. "High Fidelity" & "Compliments & Novelties" are produced by Meaty Ogre and "Text" features the MCing talents of Psiv from Lyruc District and is produced by the late Todd Sowka a/k/a Metrognome. The 12" also includes instrumentals for "High Fidelity" & "Text." Request it on your local radio!

On April 13th in Chicago @ The Metro Time Travel is having their 7th anniversary show which coincides with Dee Jay Bird’s birthday celebration. The lineup includes Atmosphere, Aesop Rock, Qwel w/ Meaty Ogre & Dwight Lightnin, Soul Position & Brother Ali. The show is all ages and will start early!
